When you do it yourself, you also deprive yourself of smth else each time you do this - if not money, then time and other alternatives.
It's not about polishing the floor, it's about making your life comfortable - whatever is your idea of comfortable life. Once again, if you think that cleaning is comfortable for you and hiring somebody else is not, then it's your definition of comfort. People are different.
